Gum Theraphy
Gum therapy is a treatment option for patients who suffer from gum disease or other gum-related problems. Gum disease is a common dental problem that can cause inflammation, bleeding, and gum recession if left untreated. In advanced cases, it can even lead to tooth loss.
Gum therapy typically involves a deep cleaning process known as scaling and root planing. During this procedure, the dentist or dental hygienist will remove plaque and tartar from the teeth and gums, both above and below the gum line. This will help eliminate the bacteria that causes gum disease and promote the healing of inflamed and damaged gum tissue.
In addition to scaling and root planing, gum therapy may also include the use of antibiotics or other medications to help control infection and inflammation. In severe cases, surgery may be required to remove damaged tissue and promote gum tissue regeneration.
